Dr Beak Red Shiso Umeshu Gin Liqueur 500ml
Dr Beak's Red Shiso Umeshu Gin Liqueur is one of those bottles that instantly feels a bit special. Part of Dr Beak’s Exploration Series, this limited release takes inspiration from traditional Japanese umeshu and gives it a distinctly New Zealand spin, using the distillery’s Garden Gin as the base. It is rich, aromatic and just a little unusual in the best way, making it a brilliant pick for anyone who likes their gin liqueurs with real personality.
This limited release gin liqueur is made by steeping New Zealand-grown green ume fruit and red shiso leaf for several months, with rock sugar added to balance the tartness of the fruit and the herbaceous lift of the shiso. The use of NZ-grown Nanko ume, prized for its thin skins and intense flavour, gives the liqueur a beautifully expressive profile with plenty of depth. It is excellent on the rocks, topped with soda, or worked into a more thoughtful cocktail when you want something a little left of centre.
Tasting Notes
Rich and lifted with florals, almonds, apricot and red boiled candy notes, balanced by gentle tartness and a softly herbaceous finish.
ABV: 22.6%
Volume: 500ml
Country: New Zealand
