Made by Distilleries et Domaines de Provence in Forcalquier, a producer founded in 1898 and known for its deep botanical expertise, this is one of the house’s oldest recipes and a great bottle for drinkers who like their aperitifs dry, aromatic and a little more grown up.
This traditional aperitif is built on Lubéron white wine and sweet fortified wine, layered with gentian root, sweet and bitter orange infusions, and quinquina. The result is fresh and citrusy up front, then more earthy and bitter through the finish, with the true root flavours and aromas of Provence coming through clearly. Serve it chilled, over ice, or use it to bring a bitter alpine edge to cocktails.
