Bruichladdich Octomore 16.1 Single Malt Whisky 700ml
Bruichladdich's Octomore 16.1 is coastal Islay whisky turned up with intent. This cask strength single malt is the backbone of the Octomore range, designed as the purest expression of the series where peat, barley and place are all on full display. Made with mainland Concerto barley and peated to a hefty 101.4 PPM, it is matured for five years in first fill bourbon barrels on Islay, letting the smoke shine with clarity rather than chaos.
Bottled at a powerful 59.3% ABV, non chill filtered and natural in colour, this is peat with precision. There is serious smoke here, but it is clean and structured, balanced by coastal freshness, sweet malt and gentle oak. It is bold without being blunt, and surprisingly composed for something this heavily peated. A proper Octomore that rewards time in the glass.
Tasting Notes
Sea spray and coastal smoke lead straight away, followed by orchard fruit, dried heather and warm earth. Vanilla bean, toasted almond and soft spice round things out before a long, mineral driven smoky finish that keeps rolling.
ABV: 59.3%
Volume: 700ml
