Bruichladdich Octomore 13.2 Whisky 700ml
The Bruichladdich Octomore 13.2 Whisky is an exceptional Single Malt Scotch aged for five years in first fill Oloroso sherry butts. This unique process enhances the Islay character with fruity and sweet notes, making for a truly exceptional experience.
Like its predecessor, Octomore 13.1, this 13.2 edition is produced using 100% Scottish Mainland barley and has been malted to a 137.3PPM (Phenol Parts per Million) level, the standard measurement for smoky whiskies. What sets this edition apart is its full maturation in first fill Oloroso sherry butts from Jerez, Spain, providing a rare chance to contrast the two spirits - where the sherry notes harmoniously enhance the smoky and lively characteristics of this single malt.
Tasting Notes
The nose is of smoked almonds, with plenty of jammy, dried fruit character coming from the sherry. The earthy peat smoke has taken on a sweet, barbecue character, with spicy plum pudding, and oily orange zest. The palate leads with hickory smoke, almond brittle, candied citrus peels and warm spices building to a finish of campfires and forest floor, with sherry character lingering.
